From Tuesday 26th August, 2014 we are pleased to announce that we have a new restaurant - The Courtyard Brasserie.

Head chef Ben Outram has created an exciting, new menu designed to tempt all tastebuds. His innovative modern cuisine, as well as his take on classic pub grub, will feature fresh house made ingredients and locally sourced seasonal produce.

Ben began his chef career in 2000, in Sydney, under Newcastle chef Tom Brown (Sprout Dining). In 2005 after his stint at several top restaurants in Sydney Ben flew to London to work for celebrity chef, Tom Aikens in the 2 Michelin Star awarded “Tom Aikens Restaurant” in Chelsea. 2006 saw Ben travel to Tuscany, Italy to chef at Il Vescovino.

After returning to Newcastle, Ben took the position of sous chef at the ‘hatted’ Bacchus restaurant in 2008 before teaming up with renowned chef Scott Webster to open the Carrington Place restaurant in 2009. For the past few years Ben has been a part of the Sprout group, operating Sprout bistro and catering for large venues within Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

Ben is bringing his vast experience and creative flair to The Clarendon Hotel serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as providing catering for functions and events.

The Courtyard Brasserie features intimate indoor and alfresco dining as well as an extensive menu that caters to all tastes. It truly is the perfect venue for all occasions. Whether it be a romantic dinner for two before catching a show at the Civic Theatre, a large group birthday dinner or just a good value casual meal - The Courtyard Brasserie caters for everyone. Opening at 7am for hot breakfasts and your morning coffee fix, serving right through to quick office lunches, afternoon snacks and a range of dinner dining options. Bar & Beer Garden

Our beautiful Art Deco bar provides a great meeting place for after work drinks or the start to a special night out. Enjoy the atmosphere inside or step out into the spacious beer garden, enjoy the fresh air and catch up with good friends. Talented bar tenders will keep your taste buds tantalised with new cocktail creations as well as large selection of boutique beers, fine Australian wines and premium spirits. Look out for our constantly changing celebrity beer taps – pouring the finest in limited edition and boutique beers.

The Clarendon Hotel bar is fast becoming reknowned as one having one of the best ranges of Australian craft beer in Newcastle and NSW. We were even finalists in the AHA NSW Awards for Excellence 2011 in the Best Boutique Beer Offering category.

Live entertainment is provided in the beer garden on Friday & Saturday nights.
